Clubs & Camps

Day Camps

STEAM Engine Education, Central Maine's Education Center, is offering 7 weeks of 'Summer Day Camps'. We are experienced teachers, determined to provide experiences to stimulate imaginations, spark creative thinking, and provide a safe place for investigating new ideas. We can't wait to have fun this summer!

STEAM Engine Education 'Summer Day Camps' are designed to engage and involve children with all different learning styles and interests. For the fun and safety of every child, registration for each week is limited to ten children, on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Camps meet for 5 days, during most schools' Summer Break. Each week of camp is $250, per child, discounts are available for families with more than one child wishing to attend a camp. Camps for children ages 6 - 9 are from 9:00AM to 12:00PM; Camps for children ages 9 - 14 are from 12:30PM to 3:30PM.

All camps are taught by experienced teachers and tutors, certified by STEAM Engine Education to teach your child.


  • Minecraft Camp

June 25, 2018 - June 29, 2018; July 30, 2018 - August 3, 2018. Two sessions of camp, both age groups available, for everyone to enjoy!

Ages 6 - 9

Learn to build, craft, mine, and create in the Minecraft world. Collaborate with others, compete for resources, and use downloaded worlds from other servers. This camp is intended to teach the child the basic and educational properties of this very popular game.

Ages 9 - 14

Build your own country, learn about the biome and resources in your area, then negotiate with the other countries to meet the needs of your people. Can you make trade agreements without going to war? This camp is intended to teach the child more advanced skills, environmental awareness, diplomacy, and basic understanding of governing.

July 2, 2018 - July 6, 2018*

Ages 6 - 9; Ages 9 - 14

Explore and examine the area around Oakland. Learn about the natural (and invasive) species, test the soil and water, and pause to enjoy the wonderful world of Central Maine. Please dress appropriately, this may get dirty while outside.

*Forest, Field, Stream, and Pond only cost $200 per child because there will be no camp on July 4, 2018

  • The Science You Can't Do in School

July 9, 2018 - July 13, 2018

Ages 6 - 9; Ages 9 - 14

Explosions! Machines! Dissections! It's science the way YOU always wanted it to be! Design secret formulas, make magical colors in the firelight, and investigate what's really inside those smelly animals in the lab closet.

  • Things that Move

July 16, 2018 - July 20, 2018

Ages 6 - 9

Planes, trains, automobiles... and boats, and flying machines, and the roads, canals, and wild terrain they travel on. Build your own machines, test the designs you invent, and beam with pride at your new construction skills.

  • History: Live Action Role-Playing

July 16, 2018 - July 20, 2018

Ages 9 - 14

Live in your favorite historical time! Choose an ear of history that interests you and develop a live-action role play examining the important issues and events of the period. And, costumes. Now you get to live on a Pirate Ship or in Ancient Rome, for three hours a day!

  • Drama Camp

July 23, 2018 - July 27, 2018

Ages 6 - 9

What is a play? What is theater? How do people put on plays? Prepare and perform a play for families and friends at the end of the week. All while learning all the basic and necessary skills that it takes to start your career as a young stage actor.

Ages 9 - 14

Examine comedies and dramas, examine the decisions made by directors and actors, and practice theater games and improvisation to prepare for a 'Family and Friends' show at the end of the week.

  • Art Camp

August 6, 2018 - August 10, 2018

Ages 6 - 9; Ages 9 -14

Develop your skills and investigate new media: drawing, painting, and sculpture. Each day, explore a new style of art and express yourself creatively. No experience necessary. Materials proved, but wear something appropriate.


After Camp Session Each Week

Ages 9 -14

If your schedule can't bend to the times the camps are available then you can pick up your child later than stated with this program. You and your child can relax and play exciting and fun strategy and design games until 5:30PM. Additional $30 a day.




Afterschool and on weekends, STEAM Engine Education is planning multiple clubs designed for your child to socialize while learning something they would enjoy. Clubs are laid back and focused on enjoyment.

A club meets once a week for 6 or 12 weeks to work together on long-term or open-ended ideas. Clubs are coached by adults or peers with special interest or training in the topic area. Clubs are planning to be launched soon. Some clubs offered are:
